Keputusan Majlis Kerja Tertinggi (MKT) UMNO dan Ahmad Zahid Hamidi mahu menjatuhkan kerajaan Persekutuan pimpinan Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin mungkin membawa krisis politik yang lebih besar dan merumitkan di beberapa negeri yang diketuai oleh UMNO.
Sumber dalaman Perikatan Nasional (PN) memberi bayangan kemungkinan apa yang terjadi di Persekutuan akan meleret ke negeri-negeri jika tidak ditangani dengan baik. Sekiranya Perikatan Nasional (PN) bertindak balas, UMNO dan Barisan Nasional (BN) akan kehilangan jawatan Menteri Besar di Johor, Perak dan mungkin Melaka.
UMNO Johor paling kritikal berhadapan risiko kehilangan kerusi Menteri Besar. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Hasni Mohamad hanya mempunyai 16 Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (Adun) daripada jumlah keseluruhan 56 kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri Johor.
Hasni diangkat menjadi Menteri Besar Johor berikutan sokongan PN mempunyai 13 Adun (Bersatu 12, Pas 1) menjadikan keseluruhan sokongan kepada Hasni ialah 29 kerusi berbanding Pakatan Harapan 27.
Sekiranya, PN memilih untuk bertindak balas dengan menarik sokongan, UMNO akan kehilangan jawatan Menteri Besar.
Situasi yang lebih kurang sama di DUN Perak yang mempunyai 59 Adun dan majotiri mudah 30 orang. Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad hanya mempunyai 25 Adun BN daripada 59 kerusi DUN Perak. Saarani menjadi Menteri Besar dengan sokongan 9 Adun PN.
Di Melaka, kedudukan UMNO agak selamat kerana UMNO menguasai 14 daripada 28 jumlah kerusi DUN. Ketua Menteri Melaka Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali mempunyai 14 Adun BN. PN hanya mempunyai dua kerusi menerusi Bersatu.
Jika PN menarik sokongan, Sulaiman masih mempunyai sokongan seorang Adun Pengkalan Batu, Norhizam Hassan Baktee, yang meninggalkan DAP dan mengisytihar Adun bebas. Norhizam dikatakan sebagai Adun yang menyokong BN di Melaka.
Malahan UMNO Sabah juga akan berhadapan dilema kerana mereka kini sebahagian kerajaan yang dipimpin Bersatu.
Namun kehilangan kuasa di Johor buat kali kedua dalam masa tidak sampai dua tahun mungkin sesuatu yang agak perit kepada UMNO. Johor merupakan negeri kelahiran UMNO, tempat UMNO tumbuh sayap di Istana Johor dan terbang menerajui politik negara selama lebih 60 tahun.
Jika semua ini berlaku ia bukan salah rakyat, bukan salah ahli UMNO tetapi salah Presiden UMNO yang mengambil tindakan politik melulu dan berkepentingan peribadi lapor
